Sustainability

Local first, transparent, in progress.

We're a small kitchen at the very start of its journey, and we'd rather show you our working than make claims we can't back up. Here are the three commitments we hold ourselves to, stated plainly, and we'll report against them as we grow.

01 — Sourcing

Local first.

New Zealand producers come first. Wherever quality allows, our ingredients are grown and milled here, and we work with small businesses that think the way we do. On the rare occasion we look further afield for an ingredient, it's because the dish demands it.

02 — Packaging

Building toward a cohesive ecosystem.

Keeping fresh pasta cold from our kitchen to your door takes packaging, and we're honest about that. Today we use compostable materials wherever they exist for the job. By 2027 we aim to have a complete system where every component is compostable, reusable, or returnable.

03 — Footprint

Measured, not marketed.

You won't see a carbon-neutral badge here until we've earned one. Once we're up and running, we'll map our actual footprint, from flour to front door, then reduce what we can and offset only where we genuinely can't. Whatever we find, we'll publish.

This page will change as we do. If you have questions about how we source, pack, or deliver, or ideas on how we could do it better, we'd love to hear from you: hello@pastapurists.co.nz
